Beyond the Buggles: MTV on Launch Night

 Everybody knows that "Video Killed the Radio Star" was the first video to play on MTV. But what else was there? This playlist features an hour of music videos that aired MTV's very first night in August 1981, minus all the REO Speedwagon and Rod Stewart, including some that have stood the test of time, and some that need to be remembered, if not seen and heard again and again.

While MTV was slowly opening its playlist to include pop acts like Michael Jackson, it was still overwhelmingly rock oriented.
