MTV Playlist: May 1992
When The Real World premiered in May 1992, MTV was still very much "music television." The rotation was filled with the Seattle sound of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden, as well as other "alternative" acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Things were getting interesting in hip-hop...Hammer was still around, but Kriss Kross was a lot more fun, as was Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby's Got Back." There was still hair metal around, such as Vince Neil's song for Encino Man and Def Leppard's Let's Get Rocked. This playlist includes more than four hours of video music from MTV's rotation in May, noted in weekly issues of Billboard magazine. Sit through as many as you can, or skip ahead as necessary--you can do that now.
